Turquoise has been sought after for centuries for it's beauty and healing powers. Well known for it's uses in Native American jewelry and carvings, it has been used for centuries and dates back to ancient Egypt as evidenced by turquoise jewelry found in the ancient Egyptian tombs.
This popular stone can range in color from vivid sky blue to a yellowish green color and is found in mines all over the world. Although quite porous in nature, most turquoise has been stabilized for use in modern jewelry which renders it less apt to chip and protects it from discoloration due to exposure from body oils. Turquoise can be strung as beads, carved into animal fetishes and combined with a variety of other stones to make striking handmade jewelry.
Turquoise gem stones are reputed to have powerful healing properties. This stone is said to help with public speaking as well as enhance calmness and creativity. The wearer of turquoise my also notice improved wisdom and honesty as well as a new sense of empathy. It has also been used to help enhance relationships, strengthen the bond in friendships and allow one to have a better connection with their inner self. It's healing properties are associated with the respiratory, skeletal and digestive systems and has long been used to cleanse the body of toxins.
Turquoise is mined in many places around the world including Iran, China, Turkey, Persia, Egypt adnNorth America. The color of the stone depends on the minerals that are in the ground. Blue stones are found where copper is present, green stones are found where iron is present a yellowish green stone which is quite rare is found where zinc is present and the White Buffalo turquoise found in Nevada is mined where there are no minerals present.
If you wear turquoise jewelry, take care to clean it carefully. This porous stone can be easily damaged if submerged in chemical cleaners. Never use steam or ultrasonic cleaners for your gemstone jewelry. The gentlest method of cleaning is to dip a Q-tip in warm soapy water and wipe the stone with that - wipe again with plain water to remove any soap residue.

No Less Than A Real Diamond
Duly known as the substitute to diamonds, though simulated, it is extremely difficult to tell moissanite from a real diamond. Moissanite diamonds appear to be as real as a natural diamond. They come along with a bonus benefit of being cheaper. But however, this piece of cosmic gem is no less in the comparison of the glam element - even more than a diamond!
Originally found in Arizona about more than 50,000 years ago, moissanite was showered upon the earth by a meteorite. Looked upon as an absolute diamond look-alike with an added profit of being shinier, moissanite caught the fancy of all jewel lovers. With its crystal clear form and radiant blaze moissanite stands out among the rest of the semiprecious stones present today.
For that distinct silver lining all over you, that is sure to get you noticed, moissanite diamonds would make a smart decision you can rely on even with your eyes closed.
These simulated diamonds make a pleasing gift irrespective of the occasion. You could present it to a friend, a relative or could simply savor the beauty of this simulated diamond yourself!

What You Should Know About a Nose Job - Rhinoplasty
By Payman Simoni | Submitted On June 10, 2007
Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article
Expert Author Payman Simoni
Most rhinoplasties are performed because the patient desires an improvement in appearance and/or nasal function. (S)he may simply want a nose which is in harmony with the rest of the face rather than one which is out of proportion with respect to the other facial features.
Rhinoplasty surgery is as much artistic in nature as it is scientific, rarely are any two of patients' noses identical. Each patient's nose should fit his or her face. Dr. Simoni recommends computer generated before and after pictures during consultations; so every patient can explain and observe desired changes prior to surgery. The alterations should be determined by many factors, including one's height, age, skin thickness, ethnic background and configuration of other features such as the forehead, eyes and chin. All in all, Dr. Simoni believes in a natural looking nose rather than one which appears to have been operated upon. No patient really wants an assembly line nose job; they want a nose individually tailored to their own features.
Rhinoplasty is considered an outpatient procedure. Rhinoplasty is a very delicate operation and is extremely different from other plastic surgery procedures such as breast implant or tummy tuck. In the hand of a good rhinoplastic surgeon, rhinoplasty carries a minimal post operative discomfort.
The nose is reduced in size by removing excess bone and cartilage. The remaining structures are repositioned through a series of carefully planned internal nasal incisions Dr. Simoni does not recommend "packing" the nose after surgery. With the elimination of nasal packing, pain, swelling, bleeding, discoloration, etc., are dramatically reduced making the recovery period much more pleasant for the patient. Dr. Simoni recommends a special technique of suturing the internal nasal tissues back in place eliminates the necessity of packing.
An often-asked question by patients contemplating rhinoplasty is "do you have to break my nose?" In a new technique, an specialized surgeon makes an incision into the nasal bones when they need to be repositioned thereby eliminating the more antiquated technique of "breaking" the bones and resetting them. Dr Simoni feels this technique allows for better control of the operation and reduces the patient's anxiety about having surgery.
Payman Simoni, MD is a dual board certified facial plastic surgeon. Dr. Simoni's background in nasal surgery combined with his natural looking results, has made him one of the most sought after rhinoplastic Surgeons in Beverly Hills, CA. Herbal Breast Enlargement
By Eric Morris | Submitted On January 09, 2006

Herbal breast enlargement is promoted as a non-surgical solution to increase breast size. It is a natural breast enlargement formula that promises fuller, firmer breasts with no adverse side effects. Herbal enlargement products are available in the form of pills that use one or more combinations of herbs and food plants. These various plant ingredients are in the form of naturally occurring non-hormonal plant estrogens, which have hormone like activity that stimulate a female body to produce new breast tissues. Herbal breast enlargement products contain ingredients that are obtained form herbs such as saw palmetto, fenugreek seed extract, wild yam, fennel seed, dong quai root, and dandelion root.
During puberty, the female body naturally produces estrogens that help to develop new tissue that makes breasts grow. Based on this fact, manufacturers of herbal products have come up with natural herbs that contain high level of estrogens. For example, saw palmetto, wild yam, and fennel seed contain high levels of natural estrogens that the manufacturers claim promote the growth of breast tissue. Fenugreek is also recommended by naturopaths to promote the growth of breast tissues.
Users claim that the use of herbal product has increased their breast size. The results can be seen after a couple of weeks, but this treatment may not necessarily be effective for every woman. The effectiveness differs from individual to individual depending upon the authenticity of the product, strict adherence to the schedule, individual metabolic rates, and the women's body chemistry.
Herbal breast enlargement provide hope for the women who want to increase their breast size without surgery. But how many the claims made by its manufacturers are true? There are no conclusive studies done to prove that these herbs work, nor are there many studies done to examine the risk and side effects of consuming herbal products. The claims of the companies of having conducted their own research has not been reported in any medical journal, thus putting a question mark on the authenticity of their claim.
It is a known fact that excess exposure to hormones causes cancer. These herbal products contain estrogens that promotes hormone like activity. This may cause cancer if the products are taken at the recommended doses of the manufacturer.
None of the herbal products have been evaluated or approved by FDA. The FDA and the Better Business Bureau have warned the customers to be alert about words and phrases such as, "miracle, secret remedy, breakthrough and clinical studies prove that..." that may be hard to back up with results.
Though many of the manufacturers provide guarantee of results for their products, it is important for the customers to thoroughly search for factual information on the products and let the doctor know about the product before consuming it. Individuals who are allergic to herbal compounds must not use these products.

Cosmetic Surgery Basics - Blepharoplasty and Other Eye Surgery Types

Developing bags under the eyes is a side effect of aging. What happens is simply that in response to gravity and the decreased skin elasticity, the protective layer of fat around the eyes starts to droop. Although bags under the eyes do not mean much in terms of how healthy you are, since we have a visual and mental association of droopy eyes with the aged, this not only makes the face look older, but it also gives the person a tired, worn appearance to us. Through an eye bag removal procedure, you can look younger, more energetic and perkier.
Causes of Eye Bags
A number of aspects can in fact play a role in the formation of eye bags. At times, there is excess fat at the back the eyelid's support wall of, giving them a baggy look. The pressure of the fat around the eyes can cause ligaments, muscles and skin to slacken. The relaxed skin itself may cause the bag simply as a result of too much skin in the area. For others, the muscle in the lid has thickened or the upper eyelids form a bag due to drooping eyebrows.
These conditions each have specific names and specific procedures for correcting them. More than one of these conditions exists at once in many patients, and all must be fixed in order to improve the appearance of the skin and to remove the bags.
Blepharochalasis, for instance, is the term for the combination of thinning eyelid skin, protrusion of skin folds in the eyelids, and lid swelling. When there is an overgrowth of the eyelid muscle and a protrusion of fat, Hypertrophy of the orbicularis muscle results. Dermochalasis, on the other hand, is simply extra skin. Brow ptosis, is when the upper eyelids are baggy from drooping eyebrows. A capable surgeon will be able to recognize the cause or causes of the eye bags prior to surgery and talk about options with the patient ahead of time.
Eye Bag Removal Surgery Effects
Eye bag removal procedures are done to rectify the puffy bags that form below a patient's drooping upper lids or eyes. These are which can bags make the patient look older and tired, and for some, can even interfere with vision. Eye bag removal surgery can remove the puffy and droopy look around the eyes, but it will not eradicate crow's feet or dark circles under the eyes. Nor will eye bag removal surgery lift sagging eyebrows.
The procedure for removal of eye bags can also be used to fashion an upper eyelid crease in Asian eyes, which is called a superior palpebral eyelid fold, however it cannot eliminate natural traits associated with ethnic or racial genes. This procedure is often used along with other surgeries, such as a browlift of a facelift, to alter the overall appearance of the face and the skin on the face.
Procedure
Eye bag removal surgery entails a number of small incisions made under the eyelash. This lets the surgeon remove excess skin and fat which causes eye bags to appear. Normally the procedure, called Blepharoplasty, is performed both on the upper and lower eyelids. For the upper eyelids, a strip of skin may also be removed, but the skin is removed in a natural crease in the eyelid in order to lessen scarring.
The procedure generally involves staying all day in hospital or an overnight stay, depending on when the procedure starts.
Following the Procedure
After eye bag surgery, stitches are typically removed from 3 to 7 days after the surgery's completion. When all stitches are removed, the patient can usually recommence normal activities. Looking and feeling much better, of course.

Firming Creams: The Truth About Firming Creams
By Dr. Janna Maher | Submitted On June 24, 2016

Expert Author Dr. Janna Maher
Facts about Firming Skin
If you're in the market for a firming cream, knowing the truth about firming creams can stop you from wasting your money on products that don't work.
1. Elastin is what allows skin to "bounce" back into place. When elastin is damaged, the skin begins to sag. This sagging combined with sun damage can cause crepe paper-like skin.
2. During early childhood, skin makes lots of elastin, but older skin makes almost none.
3. Sun damage and age degrade elastin.
4. Most firming creams are a waste of money. They don't contain ingredients that can actually firm or tighten skin.
5. Many skin-care products contain collagen or elastin, but the collagen and elastin in these products cannot behave the same way as the collagen and elastin in your skin. Nor can it help rebuild or reinforce sagging skin.
What Does Work to Firm and Tighten Skin?
Firming creams claiming to tighten skin create their effects with ingredients that can make the skin temporarily feel tighter. But skin "feeling" tighter is not the same as making a real improvement in the tone of your skin. Here's what really works to get the results you want!
1. Build more collagen. Collagen helps support skin so that sagging is less apparent. You can help skin make lots of collagen with skin-care products that contain potent antioxidants and skin-repairing ingredients. 2. Sunscreen rated SPF 25 or greater. Because sun damage destroys elastin and collagen, daily sun protection is critical. Forgetting to apply sunscreen to your neck is the one main reason why many women's necks look "older" than their faces. Anti-aging skin care doesn't stop at your face. 3. Daily use of an exfoliant containing a well-formulated beta-hydroxy acid or alpha-hydroxy acid can really help. Aside from just creating smoother skin, there is also a good amount of research showing these ingredients build more collagen and can help firm the skin.
4. Retinol can improve the elastin your skin still has, as well as build more collagen.
5. Medical procedures such as lasers and other light therapies can have impressive skin-firming results! Rather than spending money on expensive firming creams and facials, you could set those funds aside and in a few months afford these types of treatments from a dermatologist.
