50 Is the New Who Cares
By Terri S Hardesty | Submitted On June 29, 2016

I remember my fear about turning 40. I thought the gig was over, that men would no longer look at me and that my job prospects were dim at best. Last year I turned 50, and I wish I could say I accepted it with grace, but more with dread and sadness. Even though I don't have children, I'd become a grandma overnight. I still see myself as a young, vibrant women. However, a quick glance in the mirror (especially with fluorescent lighting) squashes any hopes of my seeing a dewy faced, ageless beauty.
But the fear is not just about looks, it's about getting closer to death. I used to hear people say from time to that life is not a dress rehearsal. But that's exactly how I lived my life, always waiting for something to happen, until then I would stay safe and cozy inside my comfort zone. "One day I'll take those piano lessons." I know I will travel, soon." "I would love to learn Spanish, but I'll do it later."
You get the picture. These things don't come unless you make them happen. And I'm now taking action and cultivating my passions and hobbies. For example, today I took a 20 bike ride, recently planted a garden, and I'm just about to sign up for tennis and voice lessons. These are things I always wanted to do. I'm no longer saying tomorrow... it's now.
The beauty of getting to be a half-century old is you no longer have to be in denial. Time is running out. You have no more to waste!
The fist step is to practice acceptance. Once you accomplish this you can move on and truly start living--maybe for the first time in your life. You can make it a wild, vibrant, exciting adventure. The trick is not to dwell on how you wish things were different.
So what is acceptance? You've heard the serenity prayer: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. This is a very wise verse used in twelve step programs across the globe.
These words from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous sums it up nicely:
"And acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing or situation--some fact of my life--unacceptable to me, and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment.
This is so true when it comes to the aging process. By going out and getting Botox shots, cosmetic procedures and body enhancements, you are in denial and only delaying what one day you will have to confront, an aging body that will enviably die. Until then you will cling to the complements you get when people say you don't look your age; crave those moments when people ask you what's your secret. But those comments just delay time, time you don't have if you want to evolve. You accept where you are in life and then the miracles can begin. You start building from a firm foundation that will carry you through the second chapter of your life.
As I gain more acceptance I witness myself being in the moment as opposed to the past and future. I do what I can in this second, a fresh creative time to explore and express what's inside. You don't have to worry about what people think about you. Your mission is to live the rest of your life as fully, genuinely and courageously as you can.
When I think back on my youth I can honestly say I worried about the most absurd things mostly related to my looks and the need for the world to validate me. Yes, I was going out to conquer the world so that I would be important. I wore high heels, short skirts, tight pants and created drama wherever I went. I can honestly say I'm glad those days are gone. This is the time to be who we truly are, shed ourselves of all the outward pressures and expectations that so absorb the young, and become the women who no longer care what people think. It's time to show up and be seen, our next act, not a dress rehearsal.

Attaining Thicker Hair - Great Methods That Really Work!

Over time, people of both genders begin to experience hair thinning or even loss. In order to combat this, it is necessary to understand how to get thicker hair utilizing a variety of means. The more ways that you approach the issue, the healthier your hair will become. Read over these suggestions and begin implementing them in your life, starting today.
Your hair goes through three different phases of growth. The first is the anagen cycle, followed by the catagen and, finally, the telogen. The vast majority of your hair is usually in the growth phase, anagen. Only about one percent are in the catagen, an intermediate resting phase before the final resting cycle. If for some reason your hair is cycling through more rapidly, you will see an increase in hair loss.
You need to make an appointment with your primary care physician and explain your symptoms. It may be related to your thyroid or childbearing issues. By running tests on the likely causes, your doctor should be able to eliminate certain possibilities and help you to manage your symptoms.
Another helpful measure in order to attain thicker hair is massage. This will stimulate blood circulation to your hair follicles, increasing their effectiveness. At least once a day, make an appointment with yourself for a five to ten minute head massage. Twice a week, do it after massaging a tablespoon of coconut oil into your scalp.
You may want to consider using a laser light comb that has recently gained approval by the FDA. It utilizes laser energy to revitalize the hair follicles. It will usually take between one and four months for results to appear. So with this method, be prepared to be patient, but the results will be worth it.
It is also important to look at your diet. If you rely on a great deal of processed foods, you are compromising your health, including that of your hair. Vitamin and mineral deficiencies frequently result in problems with hair and nails. You need to make certain that you get enough folic acid, which is found in soy and wheat. Incorporate Vitamin C into your diet to aid in keratin production. You can find it in tomatoes and citrus fruits.
Spinach is a nutritional powerhouse that can provide you with Vitamin A that is essential to good scalp health. You should also consider taking a multivitamin each day to make certain that you have adequately compensated for any nutrients you may have missed in a given day.
Use cleansing and styling products that are designed to volumize your hair. They contain ingredients that will attract moisture to your hair. This will make it look and feel fuller. By using a combination of items, you should obtain maximum results.
If you have been wondering how to get thicker hair, this article has some great places to begin. Start out with one suggestion at a time or tackle your thinning hair from several directions. You can have thicker hair if you are willing to apply these solutions.
The facts I have presented here about putting an end to a thin scalp are reliable and very helpful. If you want to be well informed on the matter, check out our site at: - HaiRestore

Chemical Peels: What Do Chemical Peels Do For Skin?
By Dr. Janna Maher | Submitted On August 01, 2016

Expert Author Dr. Janna Maher
Chemical peels involve applying a topical agent to the skin to exfoliate damaged skin while stimulating collagen production for firmer skin. The popularity of this kind of treatment lessened when lasers became the popular method for treating wrinkles and brown spots but chemical peels still play a significant role in skin resurfacing.
What Do Peels Contain?
Peel solutions most typically contain either alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), beta hydroxy acid (BHA), tricholoracetic acid (TCA), or phenol as the exfoliating agent. The depth of the peel on the skin can range from superficial to medium or deep. Results are closely linked to the depth performed. Superficial peels offer far less dramatic improvement than medium or deep treatments do. Overall, you can expect improvement in fine lines and wrinkles, skin discolorations, skin texture, rebuilding of collagen, removal of blackheads, and a temporary reduction in excessive oil production.
What Can a Peel Do... and Not Do?
Chemical peels in any form cannot reduce the appearance of blood vessels, change the appearance of enlarged pores, and they do not have an effect on scarring. They can make skin smoother, help fade brown spots, and generally make skin's surface look fresher and younger. Having one done every 6-8 weeks will lead to collagen stimulation that improves the appearance of wrinkles.?
Many dermatologists are forgoing deeper peels. Complications can include scarring, infection, temporary or permanent changes in skin color, and cold sore breakouts for those with a history of cold sores.
AHA Peels
AHA peels use glycolic acid and these are considered superficial to medium treatments. AHA peels are effective in improving skin texture, causing some collagen and elastin rebuilding, minimally reducing the appearance of acne scars, and reducing the appearance of skin discolorations. Repeated treatments are necessary to maintain results.
BHA Peels
BHA or salicylic acid peels have specific advantages for some skin types as irritation may be reduced. A deep BHA peel can be superior for many skin types because the irritation and inflammation are kept to a minimum. Salicylic acid is also lipid soluble; therefore, it is a good peeling agent for blemish-prone skin with blackheads.
TCA Peels
TCA peels are superficial to medium peels and have been around for years with a history of being effective and safe. TCA treatments are best for fine lines but are minimally effective on deeper wrinkling.
Phenol Peels
Phenol is generally used to treat limited areas of the face, such as deep wrinkles around the mouth, but it may permanently bleach the skin, leaving a visible line between the treated and untreated areas. Although phenol produces the most remarkable resolution of damage and wrinkling, it also possesses some of the more serious side effects.
What About At-Home Peels?
If used incorrectly or too often, at-home peels can cause burns, extremely sensitive skin, discolorations, and persistently dry skin that doesn't respond moisturizers. If you decide try one, proceed with caution!
The Final Decision
Whether to have a peel and what type to get depends on the condition of your skin and your skin type. Most important is for you to know that a peel isn't an anti-aging cure-all. Peels are helpful for improving skin tone, texture, and for some cases of brown spots. For best results, they must be accompanied by daily use of a well-formulated sunscreen SPF 25 or greater and a smart anti-aging skin-care routine. Now that's a beautiful combination proven to help you look younger, longer!

Coconut Oil and Its Advantages
By Yasmin Andrea Imam | Submitted On January 18, 2017

India has been quite a forerunner when it comes to the use of coconut oil. Most women and men swear by the application of warm oil on their tresses. The general rule of thumb, so to speak, is to inculcate a habit of massaging the scalp at least once a week. The oil is left on the hair for a couple of hours and after a shower, you notice the difference - your hair feels lovely. Aside from the effect that this natural oil brings to the table for your hair, there are plenty of other advantages Let us dwell on some of the benefits of the oil.
Cooking
Most people do not realize this but coconut oil is quite advantageous while cooking. A reliable brand adds to the flavor. The taste and smell adds texture to an average curry or even chutney. I would suggest that you buy a small bottle or packet. Coconut oil left for a long time tends to get rancid and you do not want to use this at all either on your tresses or in your cooking. If you end up forgetting about the oil in your larder, it will invariably have a foul smell, which means that this needs to be chucked out.
Skin Problems
The general thought process of refraining from applying oil on acne prone skin or oily skin remains on point. If you are not troubled with these problems, and have regular or dry skin, use coconut oil as a massage it after bath. It works wonderfully as a moisturizer on your body. The one note to follow is to ensure that you do not use copious quantities because this is not cream it is oil! Alternatively, you can also massage your body with the oil prior to a nice warm shower and your skin will reap the rewards.
Anti Ageing Benefits
Many women who have been using coconut oil on their bodies swear at the fact that this oil helps cut back the years without having to go under the knife. Given the fact that a good brand is a solution that does not eat away the hard-earned notes, it is worth considering. Of course, as said earlier, if you are riddled with acne or have oily skin, do not use the oil. Check with the doctor and only if you get the green light, go for it.
Cools the Tempers
People who have their scalps massaged with coconut oil regularly do not get into grouchy moods, or so I have heard. Having tried this out myself, I noticed that the scalp massage and a massage on the forehead cools me down when I am grumpy! As mentioned before, if you want something to help you that does not eat up your savings, coconut oil from a reliable brand is the answer. Again, if you have a pimpled scalp or forehead, get professional help from the doctor before venturing here.
A number of people are switching over to coconut oil. There have been claims that the oil aids in weight loss, reducing cholesterol and many other long-term illnesses. I cannot state that this has worked for me, given the fact that I am a hardened foodie. Having said that, there is proof that coconut oil works wonderfully on the skin, hair and aids in cooking.
Ergo
When there is something new on offer, it can take a while to switch over. The southern part of is home to many coconut plantations. Most South Indians use coconut in curries, side dishes, drinks, desserts, cakes and many more. Coconut milk adds flavor to a simple dish. The milk boiled for a couple of hours gives you homemade coconut oil. Throw away the charred mass and keep the organic oil in a sterilized bottle to use as often as you can. In a nutshell (pun intended), the coconut is a versatile nut that has a number of uses and the oil is amazing.
How about if you were to change your general routine and add coconut oil to your cooking and as a moisturiser? Sounds strange to you? Read some of the ideas mentioned in the article that may throw some perspective of how a good brand of coconut oil can help you. If you don't like the texture or smell of coconut oil, that is fine too, use what you are happy with, period.

Macafen Help For Menopausal Women
By Paul A Buchanan | Submitted On June 15, 2012
Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article
Women experiencing menopause are often seeking some kind of solution to their symptoms to make them feel like themselves again. Menopause is a tough time and for many women a very unwelcome distraction in a busy life. There are countless products on the market claiming to aid menopausal side effects and most boast all natural ingredients in some form of combined pill. Macafem on the other hand only has one ingredient, reducing the risks of reactions and side effects to a list of other ingredients and hopefully maintaining the potency of other products.
The active ingredient in macafen is maca. The key problem during menopause is the hormonal imbalance in the body. At this stage in a woman's life the body is moving from being fertile which means the reproductive system is changing drastically. Once menopause is over the body finds its new balance without reproductivity but during the transition the hormones such as estrogen and progesterone fluctuate substantially. Maca is said to aid this hormonal imbalance bringing the body back to a normal level whilst allowing menopausal process to continue unaffected.
Maca is a plant of the radish family and is considered an endocrine adaptogen. This means that it causes an effect that regulates endorcrine support in the body. The glands in the endorcrine system produce chemical messengers (hormones). Maca effectively helps these glands to produce the hormones they need to keep the body at a stable level. Maca itself does not contain hormones, it merely induces the production process in the glands.
As well as being an effective hormone balancing supplement, maca is also great for the bones, skin and teeth. It is also used to improve physical endurance, which is also useful during menopause to keep the body healthy and to fight the symptoms.
Maca's other use during menopause is to replenish a dwindling sex drive. This is said to be effective in both men and women but one key side effect during menopause and the hormone shift that goes with it, is a confusing decrease in libido. At the same time maca is said to reduce tiredness, another pesky symptom in menopause.
Maca has many uses during menopause and tackles most symptoms either directly or indirectly. It should be taken daily and for an extended period of time to feel its full effects.
Overall a natural supplement can really help with a wide variety of symptoms but it is always a good idea to first consult your doctor.
